The foundation aims to provide assistance on a non-profit basis, in whatever form or under whatever name, to individuals or organizations dedicated to the care and nursing of the sick, disabled, and lepers, support for the poor, education, awareness-raising, the care of refugees, and, in general, developmental aid. This is all in line with the continuation of the works of Father Frans Schlooz or in the spirit of the initiatives he established in India.
The assistance offered by the foundation is focused on poverty alleviation, improving living standards, education, awareness, health, and well-being for those in need in India, as well as any related activities or initiatives that may contribute to these goals, all in the broadest sense of the term.
Given the foundation’s objectives, no investments will be made, nor will any staff be hired, and no activities will be developed concerning research and development.
The foundation is a private aid initiative with the aim of providing assistance to the poor and needy in South India, following in the footsteps of Father Frans Schlooz, in accordance with the goal description outlined in its statutes.
The support provided focuses on poverty alleviation, improving living standards, education, awareness, health, and welfare of the underprivileged in Tamil Nadu, one of the poorest (driest) states in South India.
This objective will be realized by financially supporting relatively small-scale projects that yield significant social returns. The projects are selected based on recommendations from local contacts and/or local governments and are aimed at sustainable improvement and self-sufficiency. Support for projects can be one-time or for a longer duration, particularly focusing on education, shelter for street children, housing, medical care, social guidance, and environmental improvements. Support may also be provided in collaboration with other aid organizations.
In project support, the quality of the projects is clearly prioritized over quantity. It is anticipated that the number of projects will not increase. The resources obtained by the foundation come from approximately 600 donors and friends of the Father Schlooz Foundation, as well as inheritances/bequests and contributions from other aid organizations and individuals with whom collaboration occurs.
The acquired resources are allocated to projects, with decisions communicated as soon as possible to ensure the continuity of the projects in India is not unnecessarily jeopardized. To fulfill the commitments, the foundation practices prudent financial management. If the financial situation allows, advance payments on commitments may be made.
In the board meeting on December 11, 2018, the duration of the policy plan was extended during the approval of the 2019 budget.
